Rathbones Brothers PLCRathbone Brothers Plc, through its subsidiaries, is a leading, independent provider of investment and wealth management services for private investors and trustees, including discretionary asset management, tax planning, trust and company management, pensions advisory and banking services.Raysil security systems has been Maintaining the Cotag access control system for over 5 years at 159/161 New Bond Street. When we first took over the system there was access control on the basement, ground, first and second floors. Rathbones then took over the remaining third and fourth floors which expanded the access control system to a further six doors on the main and stairwell entrances. Rathbones also took over 159 New bond street which is 2 doors away from 161 which also required access control on main entrances and comms rooms which was linked to the main system via modem link. In 2005 Rathbones decided to start refurbishing the floor graduley taking out the the main entrance doors to offices outside the lifts on each floor which had access control on. It was proposed to our client to integrate the Cotag system with the lifts to give full timed control, a reader was fitted to each lift and commissioned to an output module to control each individual floor, the second floor was free access during working hours all other floors required an access card. Further to this refurbishment Rathbones decided to do a full refurbishment of all the floors throughout, which involved a full strip out of all cabling. Raysil was asked to attend to advise our client on our a proposal for the relocation of our equipment and relevant cabling. All access control units on the second floor were located in the kitchen store which was having a major works, it was advised to move all equipment to the riser adjacent the lifts, due to the exisitng cable lenghts and routes it was more cost affective to re-wire the whole system. The existing fire alarm and CCTV equipment was retained but, calling on its expertise in integration and making use of the flexibility of the Granta system, Raysil has made provision to link the fire alarm system to the new installation, and has already successfully linked the CCTV system. I also issued the client with a number of different options of readers and software upgrade options during the meeting which our client asked for further demonstration. I fitted a HF100/SP100 to exisitng doors to give our client a feel of the readers performance which he was mostly impressed with the handsfree, which he went forward with in every possible position. I also suggested an upgrade to Granta 5 which required all mother boards to be upgraded to suit. As we have been looking after Rathbones for many years I had noticed as an engineer that Rathbones use another company to maintain there Intruder alarm and CCTV. In a brief meeting I proposed to our client that it would be a lot more cost affective to have one company to maintain all of there security systems , not only from a maintenance point but also callouts and additional works. A quotation was put forward which within a short space of time was accepted and we took over all of the security systems. Following the completion of the refurbishment works the whole access control system had been totally re-cabled and controllers located to a new and much more sufficient position, the system is now totally handsfree making use easier for staff and visitors. The link from 159-161 had been upgraded to a high speed connection over the LAN making all changes to the system a lot more responsive and reliable. Rathbones also have a branch in Liverpool there office space is the basement, third and fourth floor of the Port of Liverpool listed building, they currently had a anti pass back system installed with 14 access points. Rathbones requested a site meeting at Liverpool to survey a possible installation of a Cotag system at this site, which would remotely link to the London system over the WAN.Due to the travelling of each staff from office to office it would enable a user to carry one card and all control would be a lot easier for the administrator. A proposal was put together for an 18 door system as there were additonal doors on the third floor, the manager of facilities put together a business case for the proposed quotation which was viewed and accepted by his superiors. Rathbones went for handsfree readers throughout the entire building matching London, the controllers were commissioned and all comms was linked before doors were activated to avoid any down time.
As the Port of Liverpool building was listed all furniture in the main core areas had to be brass, we had transom bars specially made in brass to suit exisitng furniture, also exit switches. |
