Barclays Global InvestorsBarclays Global Investors fire safety prioritiesBarclays Global Investors at Murray House, Royal Mint Court chose Raysil when their existing fire alarm and detection system became outdated and due to constant refurbishment over the years, somewhat unmanageable and a false alarm risk. The site of Royal Mint Court had been occupied by the Royal Mint, before that by the Abbey of St. Mary Graces and prior to 1350, by a black death cemetery. It’s archaeological importance transformed what would have been a standard board pile job into a challenging geotechnical project. During it’s construction the wells and tunnels of the system were investigated on the site while up to 100 archaeologists exhumed more than 1000 skeletons. Tunnels radiating from Well1 (the general distribution well) were mapped using a TV self propelled survey tractor. Wells were concreted in tunnels grouted up from the surface using a rotary drilling machine. The buildings are supported by some 500 board piles. Raysil completed the complete replacement of all the fire alarm detection together with a 5 panel networked analogue addressable system and re-drew plotting all of the new detectors via Autocad for their Clients. The buildings’ detection system was finally topped off with a fully integrated graphics package aiding rapid response to the areas of activation and therefore providing a safe and manageable works space. |
