Royal Geographical SocietyRoyal Geographical Society goes wirelessRaysil’s radio based fire alarm detection system was chosen as the fire detection solution for the Royal Geographical Society’s Headquarters refurbishment project including “unlocking the archives”. The Royal Geographical Society enshrined such famous names as Livingstone, Stanley, Scott, Shackleton, Hunt and Hilary. The Geographical Society of London was founded in 1830 as an Institution to promote the advance of geographical science. Under the patronage of King William IV, it later became known as the Royal Geographical Society and was granted it’s royal charter under Queen Victoria in 1859. Many of the artifacts and documentation are of obvious value to the Society and it’s some 14,000 members in more than 100 countries. The Society based at Kensington Gore welcomes 150,000 people a year to events and activities and reaches out to hundreds of thousands more through it’s website. Installing a standard wired fire alarm and detection system would not have been suitable in such an historic building and the protection of the documentation was of paramount importance. Therefore Raysil Fire & Security installed a totally wire free fire alarm and detection system to provide the protection required. |
